Trinity Church's Peacemakers Family Center has offered the PlanBe__ adolescent pregnancy prevention program since 2006. Now the Miami-based FYSB grantee is adding human trafficking prevention work to the mix.

On the occasion of National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, NCHYF spoke with Valerie Douglas, Director of Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs at the Center for Youth Services (CYS) in Rochester, New York. A FYSB Runaway and Homeless Youth program grantee for more than 20 years, CYS operates the Safe Harbour program, which provides services and advocacy for youth survivors of human trafficking and youth at risk of being trafficked.

A new publication from the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) documents an evolution taking place in the juvenile justice system — from considering trafficking victims to be criminals to understanding that they are victims in need of trauma-informed care and services.
