Abstract:

In this full-color brochure, the authors present information on sexual violence. They begin with a definition of sexual violence and sexual assault. They then provide advice for victims of sexual violence. This advice begins with practical help, such as going to a safe place, not showering, seeking medical attention, and the options of reporting the assault to police and of seeking counseling. The authors then assist victims in dealing with their emotions. The next section is addressed to the significant others of sexual assault victims, giving them advice on coping themselves and on helping their loved one. The brochure concludes with a brief discussion of who may be at risk for sexual violence.
