Abstract: 

Multiple strategies exist to confront teen sexual activity and its numerous consequences. Many practitioners who work with teens are beginning to see the benefits of the promotion of teen sexual abstinence. The author of this article addresses some often-overlooked emotional and medical consequences of teen sexual activity and the benefits of an abstinence-centered approach. Modified Author Abstract.
